Otter

she recalls those playful days
when her silkiness would glide the riverbed,
curl, stretch, coil and tease,
confident of her sleekness
she would catch the river's flash,
float it on her back,
clasp it to belly,

web and claw,
gasping,
so sure of herself

that's lovely! I'm hoping one day to find the elusive otter along the Water of Leith. Will it be today?

Beautiful. I have never seen an otter in the wild but it captures their beauty and above all their movement, carol.

This is such a unique take, Mistlethrush. Quite beautiful.

We have just re-watched 'Ring of Bright Water' (ahhh) and reminded ourselves of Kathleen Raine's poem from which the book title is taken.
